A big disappointment

I received a gift certificate for my birthday to visit the Red Door Spa. I've made it a habit to get two facials a year, and was really looking forward to the service, particularly since I am three months pregnant. The reception upon entering was nice - they were cordial and pleasant, and I waited about ten minutes before being met by my technician. Just after the facial began I noticed the technician was definitely ill. She couldn't stop coughing, and was sniffling as well. Being pregnant I was obviously not crazy about someone coughing all over my face, but what was I going to do? She seemed to be speeding through the facial(fastest facial I've ever had), and actually had to get up to leave the room a few times(she eventually opened a window too). Facials are not cheap, and I was really upset that not only was there sick person hovering over me, but she was moving as fast as humanly possible to get something done that was supposed to be a pampering and relaxing experience. This was the least relaxing and pampering facial I've ever had. Upon checking out(after trying to be sold numerous products by the sick technician) I was barely grunted to by the check out person. She literally slapped my change down on the counter and did not say thank you, or thanks for visiting our spa. Not a word. I was so disappointed with the experience, and don't want to tell my in laws how poor it was(they gifted me with the gift certificate), but don't want anyone else to waste their money or time visiting this place. It's not worth it - do yourself a favor and go to Bliss Spa instead.

Pros:

Cons: Sick technician, poor check out service

Great Spa!

I can't believe all the bad reviews.‎ Yesterday day I just had my 1st experience at the Red Door for Spa week. I got my very 1st facial and did the stress melter ritual (which is NOT a massage), The melter ritual is a scrub down, then oil apply, a foot or head massage and they you stay wrapped up for 20 min. My skin felt amazing and it was very relaxing. Najlaa was very sweet, she told me in the begining what the process was, so the treatment was quite and all I can do was relax. I was in a corner room that was above 5th ave, I did here a few car horns but this is NYC, it's common noise and did not affect me at all. After she was done she had me get dress and when she greeted me again with a glass of water for me. She walked me over to the elevator, pressed the button for me, walked in, press the next floor for me to go to and told me to Enjoy my facial!!! WOW I was so impressed. Then I went downstairs for my 1st facial, with Mikia. I'm 26 y/o and I have always been scared to get a facial because I'm very fair and have senstive skin and I didn't want to be left with bumps or redness. But Mikia assured me none of that will happen. She told very good care of me, offered me a drink or if I have to use the ladies room before she started. She applied everything gentle, never had anything get into my mouth or eyes. Did a parrfin on my hands and gave a great neck, shoulder massage. The extractions were a little painful but I'm a cry baby when it comes to pain, and she did it as gentle as possilbe but for the results I got it was worth it!! She did offered some products to purchased and to start using a new beauty regime. I declined the products for purchased but I will started the regime as she suggested. The ladies at the counter were very sweet and always had a big smile! Going floor to floor didn't bother me at all. The lounge on the massage floor is gorgeous! Sit back on a nice couch, drink the yummy drinks! My wait for each treatment was less then 5 min. I can't wait to go back!! The only con I have is the changing rooms on the 9th floor, very small and tight like a shower stall, but that's my only complaint. The do have lockers that have locks, you set to code to the locker and go. Thank you RED DOOR for offering this amazing deals for Spa Week

Pros: Sweet staff, fast service

Cons: Small changing Rooms

Not as bad as expected

I got a gift certificate for the signature package, and after reading all the negative reviews, it took me a few months to muster up the courage to redeem it. Let me just say that it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be! My swedish massage with Najlaa was awesome. She was very nice, and the massage was absolutely heavenly. I wasn't so crazy about my facial - it felt clinical, it hurt a bit more than was comfortable, and I was scolded for having less than perfect skin by my esthetitian. It really did not help me feel relaxed or pampered! My mani/pedi was probably the best I've ever had! Totally loved every minute of it! I should have skipped the makeup application because I never even wear makeup up, and I left looking like a socialite sextagenarian. Over all, I'd say the experience was OK. If I did go again, I'd book a massage and mani/pedi.

Pros: Great massage, pretty space

Cons: facial and makeup application
